Free Agents

It's realistic that the Pirates could go out & spend $20M on FA's this year {They won't do it} but, It could get 3 top line players. Let's have a vote what 3 legit FA's would you want to see signed & for how much each? Remember $20M.

I think its time to greenlight the youth movement in Pittsburgh. It might start on Wednesday when Lincoln gets called up but it shouldnt stop there. They need to go ahead and do what we all have been waiting for and that is call up Alvarez and Tabata and see if the team can gel together. Let them learn at the major league level. They cant be any worse than LaRoche and Clement. Put Tabata in right, Alvarez at 3rd, then move Jones to 1st.

If you compare/contrast Cedeno to all other ss he really has not been that bad. G. Jones at first base gives you the offense that is required at first base. Once Alvarez is brought up, the offensive core within the infield should start to develop.

Did we even show up for make up game against the cubs? That was unbearable to even watch.

Machados agent is Scott Boras, does a players agent play a factor? You bet it does.People have been all over Iwamura, besides Walker we have gotten nothing offense wise out of our entire infield this year.Laroche was hot for a brief period that's been it.

with the money they might have to give taillon, gyorko or workman might be more signable.

I hope Yordy Cabrara gets by the comp picks.

I am not arguing against Kratz and Gimenez getting a chance,I hope they do but there is one position and five players. Let's just hope the Pirates make the best choice. As for Taillon, he was just too good to pass up.

I would have taken Machado over Taillon but lets hope they got it right. One can only hope that Jed Gyorko slides out of the 1st and compensatory round to them in the 2nd round.

Regardless of their current age, Kratz or Giminez deserve a look at the next level. It is not like these players cannot still improve even further.

Although Taillon would have not been my selection, I welcome Jameson Taillon to the organization. The reason is not that I have seen him pitch or met him to know his demeanor. It is just the fact that HS pitchers drafted this high have not developed into MLB stars at a high percentage. We will see if Taillion can beat those past odds.

Eveland doesn't miss any bats.

If Machado can hit they will find a spot.

The worry with Machado is that he will out grow the shortstop position like A-ROD did.If they don't move Jones to first, then we are sorely lacking production at that spot.Do we really have a legitamate RBI man in the lineup now?I'm talking about a guy that get's the job done game after game.

It doesn't matter to the Pirates what Longoria did they have their own criteria for when a player is ready. I really believe that if Doumit can play 1st and he remains healthy with good numbers the Pirates will pay him.

arizona: Maybe if the Pirates put Doumit at 1st they will bring up Kratz or Gimenez untill Sanchez is ready. I don't think either are viewed as long term solutions.Gimenez is 28 playing at AA and Kratz is 30. Their numbers are probably due to their age and experience at the level their at.Unless they can pull a GFJ Sanchez will probably be the catcher in 2012 or sooner.

Past history does not guarantee future results. Didn't the US win the gold in 1980?

Unfortunately, All-Star staffs are limited to starters and closers. Don't expect Meek to be considered as a result.

Thanks for the input.

How many MLB pitchers have been in 27 or more games with an ERA under 1? Shouldn't Meek be considered all start material?

if you read the article in baseball prospectus,it says that it will cost the pirates much more money if they draft taillon than it will if they draft machado.

Manny Machado would be a welcome addition. I still like Colon and would really think it would be beneficial if the Pirates could secure his rights.

Huntington is working the trade angles as I type to continue to reload the minor league system. All of the following are very tradable: Morton, Aki, Clement, Donnelly, Carrasco, Dotel, Jakubauskas, Burres, Jackson, Veal, Doumit and Duke or Malhom.

reading NH's latest interview and you can clearly see that he is going to draft SS Manny Machado. By saying that no one in this draft is close to Strasburg...who knows. Taillon could be better than Strasburg in the long run. The Pirates have NO ONE IN THEIR SYSTEM LIKE JAMESON TAILLON. a PROSPECT WITH TRUE ACE POTENTIAL. cONGRATS mR. mACHADO WELCOME TO THE PIRATES.
