It's realistic that the Pirates could go out & spend $20M on FA's this year {They won't do it} but, It could get 3 top line players. Let's have a vote what 3 legit FA's would you want to see signed & for how much each? Remember $20M.

last night they talked about that stat being over rated and gave examples of players hitting well with runners in scoring position but only have very few runs batted in.

I think this team reflects in alot of ways the personality of it's manager, sort of laid back. Would like to see more guys with that fire and passion in their eyes.

Going into sat. nights game, Milledge was hitting .400 this year with runners in scoring position. We are having the same problem as last year, to many guys stranded on the bases. If more guys were hitting in the clutch we would be alot better than we are now.

talk about grasping for anything, millegde has 15 rbi's and projects to only 52 for the season which stinks.

Considering that neither Duke or Maholm is pitching as a number 1 starter and their salaries are going to dramtically rise in the near future, I see at least one of them getting traded within the next 13 months. Rudy Owens and Bryan Morris must pay their dues at the AAA level prior to being considered for the MLB.

If Alvarez gets the call, Laroche or Young could be on the trading block. As long as Milledge hits .400 with runners in scoring position he probably will keep the LF job.Teams are always hungry for pitching, wonder if Zak or Paul are on the trading table.Rudy Owens and Bryan Morris probably not to far behind Lincoln.

June 1, 2010 core starting line-up

Tabata (RF) Walker (2B) Jones (1B) McCutchen (CF) (clutch hitting is more important than his speed...break up left/righty) Alvarez (3B) Doumit (C) Milledge (LF) Cedeno (SS) Pitcher

Duke Maholm Ohlendorf Karstens Lincoln

I have always lobbied for Karstens in the rotation. It looks like my idea of Walker in the line-up is looking like it was a good idea. Number 1 priority in the off season is to sign in free agency or trade for a legitimate #1 starting pitcher. BTW: Look for Capps to continue to fade. The relief pitching for the Pirates this season has not been a concern.

While i agree with management about rushing players up to early, pitchers only have so many innings in there arms. If you have very talented pitchers in your farm system, don't have them waste their arms in the minors.

When you are a team that doesn't score alot of runs on a consistent basis, playing good fundamantal baseball is critical!! Not moving players over/sloppy base running these things really stand out when you don't score runs.Sadly this reflects on the skipper of the team. While Milledge's numbers haven't been outstanding, he is hitting .400 with runners in scoring position.

Polatta:

Are you referring to the ball that landed 30 feet behind McLouth the other day?

Like I wrote before the season started, Opening Day will be the first week in June for this team. Several moves will be made soon.

Now the question is, which players should be replaced?

Are we including the routine fly ball to center that the guy lost in the lights for a triple?? Lets not act like hes really hitting .286!!

The 286 led to how many Pirate wins and how many Pirate losses? If Aki never suited up for the Pirates again it would be too soon.

Clement needs to go to the minors immediately.

If Morton shows any promise in the minors, I say trade him for a fresh start for all parties elsewhere. Thank goodness he is off the active roster. This should have been done 5 weeks ago.

and nobody want someone who is hiyying .174 which is what iwamura is hitting.if hitting .286 over the last 7 games is the best he can do than like i said before worry about winning and stop worrying about the front offices pride.remember his defense stinks also.

Don't recall saying "lighting it up," but only a few select people wouldn't take a .286 batting average at second base.

6 for 21 over the last 7 games isn't lighting it up piratesreport.pirate fans and the baseball world would probably respect the front office more if they would admit that iwamura isn't cutting it and they will be trying maybe crosby or young or walker at 2nd and see if they give the team a better chance of winning. right or wrong, that alway seems to be the perception of the pirates, winning isn't the most important thing.
