It's realistic that the Pirates could go out & spend $20M on FA's this year {They won't do it} but, It could get 3 top line players. Let's have a vote what 3 legit FA's would you want to see signed & for how much each? Remember $20M.

Value? What value could a guy bring when you have, by far, the worst record in the league. And they almost assuredly will end with the worst record in all of baseball. Where's the value Arizona? Meanwhile, Washington no longer the worst team in baseball and will end with 20 more wins than last year. Your answer is quite obvious.

Sanchez, Kratz and Giminez have all produced enough in the minors to be worthy of a shot at the majors. This is another reason that I am excited to see the trade of Doumit. I am not a fan of taking a square peg with Walker and trying to place it in a round hole (catcher) just to justify his bat in the lineup. Yes, he still needs development at 2nd base but let him play out the progress the remainder of the season. This is the best time possible for him to gain some experience. Machado would have been my selection. These types of players are rare to find. There will always be a top starting pitcher in each and every draft. The organization claims it selected 2 in this draft alone. The Pirates might even pick up a top starting prospect via the international circuit.

Arizona, when did the Yankees ever make Jeter available? When did the Orioles make Ripken available? A-Rod was available cause his contract bankrupted his team. Wake up from your silly dream bro. They could of had Machado in the draft. That's how u get those guys. As for Walker being catcher, I'm sure that's not a popular decision. But my reasoning was based on Uggla being at 2nd. I'm certainly not taking his bat out of the lineup and catcher would be his only option. Plus a guy who gets hit in the face like Sanchez, might not come back the same player. Might end up gun shy at the plate. And the Pirates aren't loaded anywhere bro, not even catcher. They might be loaded in in-efficient arms though!

Faytes, they sign Taillon with the intent on dealing him. As for Pemce and Uggla being has beens, not sure who looks ridiculous. Lancem, in the case of where their power comes from, it does matter to a degree. In Arizonas dream land, he wants 1 of the 5 power hitting shortsops alive on the planet. Those guys aren't avauilable, as they are franchise players. And when did the Pirates ever try to win with bats? Never. They sink all this money and their entire draft into pitching. Not to mentiom Bullington #1 overall and making the leading college homerun hitter a pitcher. Enough of this. Build a lineup that can score and play defense. Say all u want about me running the team into the ground, but my lineup wins the division NEXT YEAR!

There is no reason any high dollar contract players should be traded for at this time while the Pirates are this far out of the race. Polatta, since we both agree this season is over for the Pirates, I think we should not ridicule management over high priced players until the winter free agency period. Walker at catcher is just silly. The Pirates are loaded with overall organizational depth at that position.

Ripken, Banks, Jeter and A-Rod all made a huge impact on their teams. Who would not like to have a SS of that caliber on the Pirates?

hey how do you trade the rights to a player you didn't sign? Mlb doesn't allow that and no way do you trade a guy that could be a future ace for a rental player. And why do you want these has beens? Polatta would of run the pirates into the ground even more so. Your ridiculous.

what difference does it make where they get their power from.this team other than a true #1 starter needs some power.

arbitration is about how much, you go to the arbitrator the player has a price and the team has a price.it gets very ugly.if the arbitrator rules for milledge and his price was lets say $2.5 million and the pirates were $900,000,then he gets a contract for $2.5 million. that is one of the reason they have not given up on clement he will be much much more cheaper.

If Cedeno can stay focused for a complete game and play up to his ability we wont need a new shortstop. Its those rutine plays that kill him but i do remember he was one of the top defensive shortstops in the league based on his fielding percentage, but im sure thats gone down just a little bit.

I really dont understand the reasoning on a power hitting shortstop.Almost all power hitting shortstops that come through the draft are projected to be moved to 3rd base. And didnt we already try winning with bats alone? that worked really well when Ian Snell was on the mound every 5th day and lasted about 2 innings per start.

Pirates fans everywhere are thanking their lucky stars now that Neal Huntingdton doesn't listen to Polatta. Just out of curiousity, though, who would play ss the 80 games Jack is on the DL? Jack was a top-notch majot league shortstop but the key word there is "was."

Arizona, the Pence comment was made by my bro BUDDY, so not insecure. The Pirates will certainly sign Milledge, if only to not admit Neal overtooled him by 4. As far as Walker, he is learning the position on the fly with 1 concussion in the bag already. After acquiring Uggla, I would move Walker to catcher. Doumit can spell Walker and Jones at first. My team batting order that wins the division would be Tabata-McCutch-Uggla-Pedro-Pence-Jones-Walker-Jack Flash-anyone pitches and bats 9th. Division champs that outscore everyone! Now who doesn't like that lineup?

Buddy, Hunter Pence can certainly be had now for Paul Maholm and hometowner Brad Lincoln. Jack Wilson can be had very cheap, as he is not seen as Seattles future. Ronnie Cedeno and a double A prospect would do the trick. Dan Uggla would take some creativity. Maybe a package that includes Zack Duke, Andy Laroche and the rights to Taillon if they can sign Stetson. Be creative Neal and get these 3 guys. That's how u get them bro!

The Pirates certainly do require starting pitching. I never made one comment about Pence. Where did that come from? You must be insecure on that thought. Yes, Milledge is arbitration eligible after this season. Who on this board thinks the Pirates will take a pass and not want to resign him? Milledge's arm has sat a few runners this season. Polatta, do you now think that Walker is not an acceptable option at 2nd base? BTW: I was pulling for the Pirates to draft the SS. Whenever a team has middle infielders that can hit with power, it is a huge separator over the competition. This is assuming their glove is acceptable. Jack is done. You need to recover from withdrawal syndromes.

Polatta I'm not your bro. Second we need starting pitching before we win anything. All those moves only improve the lineup. And who do we trade for those guys?
