It's realistic that the Pirates could go out & spend $20M on FA's this year {They won't do it} but, It could get 3 top line players. Let's have a vote what 3 legit FA's would you want to see signed & for how much each? Remember $20M.

Polatta, I said if Locke merits a September callup someday it's a bonus. That's a far cry from saying he merits a September callup. It's amazing how people only read what they want when the facts don't support their argument.

He was only aquired for cash but i still dont understand the move..i read somewhere that the FO is considering calling up Argenis Diaz so that means Crosby or Cedeno is traded?? and the Bixler trade was nothing more to add depth in AAA with a super utility player.

Key signing for your battling Buccos tonight. Brian "whiff, whiff, whiff - Golden Sombrero Bixler is back. Good to see Neal is not taking the All-Star break off. Good grief!

Flight of stairs to Indy PR- obviously I don't follow guys that get rocked for 6 straight months. Thank gosh he wasn't traded for a gold glover or an all-star or a guy that hits 25 homers. And certainly not for a "cornerstone of a franchise".

Hey, bro, Locke pitches for Altoona now. You probably missed it.

Rosario- it was stated Dunn leads the league in homers, nobody says he led the MAJORS- and SERIES, did u just say Locke desrves a September call up? Bro he is in class A ball bro. Got a few more steps, make that a flight of stairs before he is even considered for Altoona let alone Pittsburgh. You're better than that

last night during the futures game they made a point to say that hernandez is working his way out of being a prospect.

Don't forget Gorkys Hernandez, 22, who was part of the trade. He's up around .270 with 16 steals for Altoona.

will people stop with the mclouth and morton stuff.both teams picked up the others garbage.it sounds like people think morton is a young pitcher who hasn't had many starts in the majors.he is going to be 27 in oct. and has 43 major league starts and has stunk.mclouth had 1 very good year but he has been rancid since being a brave.arizona i understand you like milledge but even the pirates don't like him.platooning him with church just shows that.please remember,he wouldn't even be playing as much as he does if clement would have hit .230 and not .180.

"We're moving in the right direction, but we need to figure out how to start winning," general manager Neal Huntington said.

• The starting pitchers are 16-47 with a 5.49 ERA, both figures by far the worst in the majors.

• The batting average of .235 is the worst, and the 284 runs and 59 home runs are in the bottom five.

• The road record of 11-38 is the worst.

• The run differential of minus-194 is the worst, and it could challenge the worst by any team since 1899.

Can somebody please fire Russell? NH must not be informed of the statistics listed above including the last line.

Milledge is now 2nd in batting average for the Pirates closely gaining on the leader. He has 0 errors in well over 1000 innings as a Pirate. When is it time for many on this board whom has singled him out in the past to offer an apology?

just for the record. Because I didn't post on this site and state my intentions doesn't mean I didn't want dunn. You seem to have a god mentality. But that's neither here nor there. I'm done bickering over this with you. We all know that the current group needs to spend more and we need to be patient. We have some potential. Let's see how they do with it.

On another note, glad to see Tanner Scheppers doin well. I was really excited when we drafted him and was hoping to get him signed, only to hear we didnt because of his arm injury, now hes in AAA throwing 99 miles an hour for the Rangers..looked great in the futures game. Heres to getting Taillon and Allie both locked up!

Dunn doesnt lead the league in homeruns, Bautista does. McLouth was already on the decline when we got read of him. Building a team according to your ballpark would make sense if you didnt play half your games on the road, plus the pirates have a way better home record than they do on the road. Morton still has the chance to be a great major league pitcher, hes got the stuff he just needs to learn how to control it. Locke is deserving of a promotion. I dont see Gorkys having much of a future with us. We dont need another speedy outfielder that cant hit for any power, we need a power hitter in right field.

Give the McLouth bandwagon a break. He is a marginal major league player who rode a few good months into a big contract. Even with Morton's struggles, the Pirates got the better end of the deal. Morton has a chance, no matter how slight you might think that is, to get better. McLouth has shown no signs of that. If the other two players even merit a September callup someday, that's a bonus. Besides, if you want an overrated left-handed hitting outfielder who at one time had power, he's already on the Pirates - Ryan Church.

As far as the dimensions, I apologize JV. Isee that was Faytes who is trying to ride my Adam Dunn bus from last year. Every follower of this website knows I was flying Solo on that one. Don't jump on after he leads the league in big flies. As for someones performances with other teams, some players are built for certain teams and ballparks. I'll use Jason Bay as an example. He was the only power bat for the Bucs and played in a pitchers left field park. He was very good. He goes to Boston with protection in lineup and hitters left field and almost wins the AL MVP. Now he's been paid, but plays in pitchers left field and his numbers are off. McClouth is the same thing but he's also been hurt most of the year. Build a team according to your park!

JV- your points are valid until you told me about some guys fantastic numbers in class A ball. Let me know in 5 years how he's doing in AAA. Unfortunately Neal Huntington thought he was getting, at worst, a #2 starter in Morton. I'd say his evaluation was a bit off. As for your dimensions, a future lawyer certainly isn't trying to compare 330 vs 320 and 800 miles away. You'll get laughed at in courtrooms with those analogies. Listen, Daryl Ward hit one in the river. Daryl freekin Ward. A 28 year old rookie hit over 20 homers in half a season in Jones. Batting lefty with power in PNC park is an advantage. Its an open air right field. Jeff Locke was rocked all last year and is miles behind where Huntington had him evaluation wise. And I've heard more than once that Gorky plays hard when Gorky wants to, which is like every other Wednesday and an occasional Monday. That type of effort doesn't and won't work here.
