It's realistic that the Pirates could go out & spend $20M on FA's this year {They won't do it} but, It could get 3 top line players. Let's have a vote what 3 legit FA's would you want to see signed & for how much each? Remember $20M.

PR- it doesn't compare to what I saw last night. When the Phils scored 2 in the first it was as loud as a Steeler touchdown. Only Cubs fans at MilwauKee could compare to the sheer numbers of Philly fans. And Rosario, when I spend $400 on a game that is 12-2 when I leave and don't have a Pirate fan around me, not sure where the positive would be. Everything isn't a rosy as the glasses u r looking thru

Went to my first game in awhile last night. If their wasn't 25000 Phillies fans their then it was 24999. I actually was wondering who goes to support this ownership group and last nite got my answer. Don't let the Pirates move to the NL East cause Nuttings just trying to get more sellouts via the oppositions fans.

I was surprised to see another small market team {twins} have a payroll of nearly 100 million dollars.I don't believe our payroll reaches 30 million.Looking into the future i don't believe you can win a division or even play .500 baseball with that salary structure.Adding low to low mid level free agents haven't helped a great deal. When our younger players mature do we double our payroll or bring in the next bunch of youngsters and start over once again.

Love to have his bat in the middle of the lineup.Sat. nights game against the phillies, our broadcasters made it a point Werth is a free agent at the end of the year. HINT-HINT-HINT

Bucs: There is no question that the players and manager are trying to win every game the remainder of the season. However, when you know you have 0 shot at the playoffs by the 4th of July it is much more difficult to have your heart in the games. Additionally, management in the front office has a different perspective than the product they put on the field.

I agree developing a winning attitude from the roots up is important and to get rid of some higher salaries of players not figuring into the future of the team is something they would like to do.The point i disagree with is NO MATTER HOW BAD YOU ARE, YOU GO OUT THERE EVERY GAME AND TRY TO WIN IT.You don't worry about next years draft picking order. You owe your fans a competitive ball game, that's why they pay good money to come out and see.

Management is not thinking about individual wins. This season is over. Every win leads to a worst draft position. This is an indirect reason why the team will attempt to trade some additional veterans at the trade deadline. More importantly it will allow the younger players experience at the MLB to secure the core moving forward. Additionally, it is less expensive to the payroll. Management is more concerned with individual player development throughout the organization with a twist on developing the winning attitude within the minor league system. Thus in time the winning could trickle up to the majors.

If Dotel goes, Meek has earned the closers slot. Our hitting isn't getting any better but the pitching has made a 180 degree turn around.Granted the cubs and phillies are struggling with the bats right now, but at this point we will take any win.

Watching wed. game against cubs, it's not hard to see why cedeno has management scratching there heads.Talk about swinging at bad pitches!! Doesn't seem like he has his head in the game at times.Glad we won but we have gone from the "LUMBER AND LIGHTNING COMPANY" to the "TOOTHPICK AND SPARK COMPANY"

Second day in Indy that Jim .404 Negrych sat for Aki Iwamura. Aki can't even hit im minors with a .200 average (Improvement over Pittsburgh). Is Neil calling the shots down there on this? When production is finally put first in this organization things will finally start to turn around.

It is becoming more apparent that one of the biggest needs is a good defensive catcher who has leadership qualities. One of the keys to the turnaround of the late 80's was acquiring Mike LaVallier, an under appreciated member of that team. Mike was able to hit for some average, but his strength lied in defense and commanding a pitching staff. A catcher of this ilk plus a couple of good starting pitchers would go along way in the improvment of this team.

Okay.....what do you guys think the batting order needs to be? Keeping in mind that Alvarez isn't going to strikeout forever and Walker is going to return from injury... 1. McCutchen, CF 2. Walker, 2B 3. Tabata, LF 4. Jones, 1B 5. Alvarez, 3B 6. Doumit, C 7. Crosby, SS 8. Milledge, RF 9. P

If you put it that way, those fans lived through a financial depression. Today (at least for now) there appears to only be a recession.
