It's realistic that the Pirates could go out & spend $20M on FA's this year {They won't do it} but, It could get 3 top line players. Let's have a vote what 3 legit FA's would you want to see signed & for how much each? Remember $20M.

Church is the player that should be dropped before any other.

In all reality, the Pirates have 15 MLB players that the team should build around and 10 other players that are best suited for the Independent League.

Cedeno's days might be numbered as a pirate. What do we have to lose, keep bringing up the prospects.

How can any team be so bad on the road?????? it was the same last year. What is it going to take to stop the losing?

Sorry, missed that Morgan catch. But I did save the one where he missed the ball, threw his glove down and let the guy get an inside-the-park homer. His problem is the same as many of the Pirates now - they can make great plays once in a while... just not often enough. Right now, they're all pressing, trying to make great plays in the field and hit six-run homers. Something needs to break the spiral downward. The easy answer is to fire the manager. I'm not sure if he deserves it or not but something has to break the cycle.

By the way, did anybody else see that catch by Nyger Morgan, one of the greatest catches i have ever seen.

Our management has spent alot of money/time and effort to rebuild our minors and for this i applaud them. They have not found the formula for the parent club yet.Record wise we are not any better than we were when they took over.Alot of people think we are worse now.Time is runnung out though, to keep making excuses and empty promises. No excuse for our road record.

The point i was trying to make is Stargell and Parker had leadership skills. While Freddy was a very good player for us i wouldn't consider him a leader. Jack Wilson added solid stability to the infield but i don't think he was a player the other players rallied around.Made a comment at this website last year that the Reds made a great move by picking up Scott Rolen, a solid veteran rbi bat to put in the middle of the lineup to help the youger players. This is what we should do.

When you say there is only "one" Stargell then obviously Jack or Freddy aren't Stargell. Nobody ever compared either to him. But its bice to know mgt won't pay for a bat like stargell or leaders like Jack or Freddy. They will pay for anyone coming off the Dl though!

I believe it is important and worth the money to have a proven veteran rbi bat in the middle of the lineup.I also think it's important to have a top notch starter to lead the starting staff. WINNING IS CONTAGIOUS when you have a few that can light the fuse.

There was only one "pops" stargell but he was the leader, the rock all the others depended on.Freddy or Jack or no Stargell or Parker.I think management realize that it was dumb to say lefties in the bullpen is overated.Since our starters don't go deep into games, it is important to have reliable relievers.

Positive strong leadership? Like Jack Flash or Freddy? U speak of intangibles? Sorry, Huntingon thinks he needs that as much as he needed lefties in the pen!

We are a young team that is in need of POSITIVE/STRONG VETERAN LEADERSHIP to teach the younger guys how to win.Pitching has really gone sour and only a couple of guys hitting.

I am not "bashing" as u call it. Matter of fact, Polatta will be attending next Saturday nights game. I just like to tell the facts without taking certain appearances away from somebodys performance. Hanrahan has been fine, but I still wouldn't have traded a nasty lefty for guy that was benched from his ckosers role. And as I pointed out, Brad Lincoln was rated #158 prospect so why did everyone act like Roger Clemens was coming up?

Pirate fans want to get excited about performance at the major league level.Since we are being thumped again by Oakland tonight you can have a dozen Brian Bixlers who have great minor league stats, we need to start to see results at the top level instead of excuses or promises.

Shouldn't Church bells be ringing in Indianapolis?

May I ask the record for number of losses by one team in a single season over 8, 10 etc ?????????????

Am I the only one on this board that sees future upside with Presley? Can anyone else get excited about this prospect?

Polatta:

Normally, I'm not one to subtract numbers to make somebody look better/worse, but the 20-0 game is a rare exception.

Polatta it seems like no matter what a player does your determined to bash them. A 3.4 something era with a strikeout an inning from a rp isn't that bad. I just can't see how you can be so negative. Would you also like to bash cutch while you're at it?
